Professor Chih-Wei Lu is a distinguished scholar in the field of Geotechnical Engineering at the Department of Civil and Construction Engineering, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (Taiwan Tech). He obtained his Ph.D. degree from Kyoto University, Japan, and has since dedicated his academic career to advancing research and education in geotechnical engineering.

His major fields of expertise include Soil Dynamics, Soil Liquefaction, Liquefaction Mitigation, Three-Dimensional Effective Stress Analysis, Pile–Soil–Superstructure Interaction, and Geotechnical Seismic Design. Professor Lu’s work integrates both theoretical and applied aspects of soil mechanics and earthquake engineering, contributing to safer and more resilient civil infrastructure worldwide.
